New Data Processing Centre in the Course of Centralising IT

H&R InfoTech GmbH

H&R InfoTech GmbH is a subsidiary of the listed H&R WASAG Group, which, with an annual turnover of more than 500 million euros, is one of the leading special chemical companies in Europe and employs more than 1600 employees worldwide. The core competencies of the three operational business areas of H&R WASAG AG concentrate on the production of chemical pharmaceutical raw materials, the manufacture of precision synthetic parts and the development and production of industrial explosives. The subsidiaries all enjoy leading international positions in the market or technology as a result.

Since 01/01/2005, H&R InfoTech GmbH has been the central IT provider for the individual companies of H&R WASAG AG and Hansen & Rosenthal KG. Further optimisation of the business processes, a standardised IT infrastructure of the individual companies and an improved transparency and optimisation of the IT costs and the administrational expenditure is effected by the centralisation of IT and the design of a data processing centre on the basis of a new IT infrastructure, including the introduction of a new ERP system.

In the course of the design of the central data processing centre, the preparation of central services, such as network management, mail, Internet and file services and the applications available centrally, is realised step by step. The people in charge chose FRITZ & MACZIOL as the partner. This was not just because the systems company was extremely impressive in the project meetings with its competence in distribution and technology, but also because FRITZ & MACZIOL offered local support thanks to its Hamburg location and its long-established strategy of customer proximity. In September 2005, the complex project environment consisting of IBM pSeries p570, Storage DS 4500, BladeCenter, xSeries and LTO Library was completed. The Hamburg team from FRITZ & MACZIOL were responsible for the sizing, procurement, implementation and introduction of the IBM TSM Back-Up Software.

The further schedule up to the start of 2007 covers the expansion of the project environment to the productive use of the data processing centre, including the preparation of the new IT Infrastructure and the new ERP system.
